Commander Herbert Granville Smith, R.N. (13 March, 1865 – 29 January, 1904) was an officer in the Royal Navy.
Life & Career
Born in Corwall.
Smith was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant on 30 June, 1888.
Smith was appointed in command of the destroyer Hunter on 7 November, 1896.[1]
Smith was promoted to the rank of Commander on 31 December, 1899.
Smith died two days after being invalided from a command appointment in the destroyer Tartar, his death being due to apoplexy was reported by telegram by the Commodore, South Atlantic Station.
