Lieutenant-Commander Edward Duffett, O.B.E., R.N., Retired (18 October, 1857 – 26 February, 1942) served in the Royal Navy.

His birth date was given as 3 September, 1855 before being altered by reference to Constabulary [?] Papers. Perhaps he misrepresented his age to join the service early.

Life & Career

Duffett was promoted to the rank of Gunner on 4 January, 1884.

Duffett was promoted to the rank of Chief Gunner on 1 April, 1903.

Duffett was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant on 1 October, 1908.

Retired due to age on 3 September, 1910.

Duffett was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant-Commander (retired) on 1 April, 1916.

Duffett died of heart disease and bronchitis.
