U.S.S. Preble was one of three Paul Jones class destroyers completed for the U.S. Navy.
Service
Preble was commissioned on 14 December, 1903 with Lieutenant Theodore C. Fenton in command.
In 1906, she and Paul Jones were added to the newly formed Fourth Torpedo Flotilla, serving with the Pacific Squadron.[7]
