Admiral THE RIGHT HONOURABLE Edward Stafford Fitzherbert, Thirteenth Baron Stafford, K.C.B., Royal Navy, Retired (17 April, 1865 – 28 September, 1941) was an officer of the Royal Navy.

Life & Career

At the examination for Naval Cadetships, Fitzherbert placed eleventh out of the successful batch of forty-six.[1]

Fitzherbert was promoted to the rank of Commander on 30 June, 1899.[2]

Captain

Fitzherbert was promoted to the rank of Captain on 30 June, 1904.[3]

Great War

Fitzherbert was promoted to the rank of Rear-Admiral on 24 October, vice Tottenham.[4] On 6 December, he was appointed Admiral of Minesweeping[5] in succession to Rear-Admiral Charlton.

He was appointed to the new position of Director of Torpedoes and Mines on 18 February, 1917.[6] On 1 January, 1918, he was appointed a Companion in the Military Division of the Most Honourable Order of the Bath (C.B.).[7]

Fitzherbert was appointed Commander-in-Chief on the Cape of Good Hope Station on 20 May.[8]

Post-War

Fitzherbert was promoted to the rank of Vice-Admiral on 27 January, 1920, vice Vaughan-Lee.[9]

He was placed on the Retired List at his own request on 24 March, 1923.[10] He was advanced to the rank of Admiral on the Retired List on 17 March, 1925.[11]
