H.M.S. Ark Royal was under construction as a tramp when acquired by the Royal Navy for conversion to a seaplane carrier, entering service at the end of 1914.

Service

Re-commissioned on 13 December 1923 at Chatham as part of the Reserve Fleet.[9]
