H.M.S. Patuca was a commercial liner converted for use as an Armed Merchant Cruiser in the Royal Navy.
Service
Patuca became a kite balloon ship in 1917 and remained in this role until 13 December, 1918.[4]
Armament
She was armed with:[5]
- six 6-in guns
- two 3-pdrs on H.A. mountings

- Commander Cecil H. France-Hayhurst, 23 November, 1914[6] – 24 February, 1915[7] (died same day removed from ship and taken to hospital)
- Commander James H. Neild, 21 November, 1914[8] – 19 August, 1915[9][10] (assumed command after death of France-Hayhurst)
- Commander Percy G. Brown, 18 April, 1915[11] – 19 August, 1915[12][13]
- Acting Captain Tristan Dannreuther, 19 August, 1915[14] – 30 June, 1918[15]
