Notus was a spar torpedo boat completed for the Imperial German Navy in 1874.
Construction
Originally designated torpedo steamer No I, Notus was launched by AG Vulcan of Stettin on 2 August, 1873. Her general layout was similar to contemporary steam tugs.[7]
Service
Notus was commissioned for experimental work with spar torpedoes on 20 June, 1874. After eighteen months' of this duty, she was repurposed as a dockyard steam tug and buoy tender.[8]
