U.S.S. Seawolf was one of nine Seawolf Class submarines completed for the U.S. Navy. Her name was changed to H-1 before she was launched.
She was commissioned at Mare Island Navy Yard on 1 December, 1913 with Lieutenant Henry Martin Jensen in command.
