H.M.S. Arun was one of 36 destroyers of the "River" class.
Service
On 13 August, 1904, Arun collided with Decoy in night exercises off the Scilly Islands, sinking the other destroyer. In a Court Martial, Commander Tyrwhitt of Arun was found to blame for hazarding the two vessels.[8]
In late 1905, Arun was in commission on the China Station.[9]
By January, 1907 she had returned to Britain and was part of the Channel Fleet's Third Flotilla.[10]
In early 1910 she had joined the Second Destroyer Flotilla.[11]
In mid-1913, she was doing patrol work with the Ninth Destroyer Flotilla.[12]
In April 1914, she was tender to Iron Duke.
