Vice-Admiral (retired) Charles Herbert Morgan, (16 November, 1865 – 30 May, 1942) was an officer in the Royal Navy.
Life & Career
Morgan was born in London, the son of Commander Morgan, Royal Navy.
Morgan was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant on 4 October, 1888.[1]
Morgan was promoted to the rank of Commander on 31 December, 1901.[2]
He was appointed in command of the screw sloop Wildfire on 16 July, 1906 and for duty with the Commander in Chief.[3]
Morgan was promoted to the rank of Captain on 30 June, 1907 and discharged from Wildfire (now re-named Undine) on 25 July.[4]
Morgan was appointed in command of the first class protected cruiser Europa in February, 1908.
In June, 1908, Morgan was appointed in command of the first class protected cruiser Gibraltar.
In August, 1909, Morgan was appointed in command of the battleship Albion.
He was appointed in command of the light cruiser Liverpool in August, 1910.
Morgan was appointed in command of the first class protected cruiser Ariadne in April, 1912.
On 6 December, 1913, he was appointed in command of the battleship Venerable.[5]
Retirement
He was placed on the Retired List on 12 January, 1915 as medically unfit.[6]
Morgan was promoted to the rank of Rear-Admiral on 27 October, 1918.
Morgan was promoted to the rank of Vice-Admiral on the Retired List on 19 July, 1924.
