Captain (retired) Henry Neville Lake, D.S.C., (20 February, 1893 – ) was an officer in the Royal Navy.

Life & Career

Lake was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant on 15 April, 1915. In early 1916, he was appointed to Dolphin and then to Vulcan for submarines. On 19 April, 1916, he was appointed to D 4. On 6 January, 1917, he was appointed to E 52. His first command was that of C 13, appointed 5 January, 1918 and lasting until 20 July.[1]

Lake was appointed in command of G 2 on 20 July, 1918 and was in command of the submarine G 2 on 28 October, 1918, when she sank U 78 in a night attack at 56deg 16' N., 5deg 15' E..[2]

Lake was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant-Commander on 15 April, 1923.[3]

He married Florence May Walsham in Foochow China on 21 October, 1924.[4]

Lake was promoted to the rank of Commander on 31 December, 1927.[5]

Lake was placed on the Retired List at his own request on 8 April, 1937.[6]

Lake was promoted to the rank of Captain on the Retired List on 20 February, 1938.[7]
