The Sixth Cruiser Squadron was originally the Third Cruiser Squadron, under Rear-Admiral Sir Henry B. Jackson. He gave up command on 10 October, 1910.[1] Officially, Rear-Admiral Sir Douglas A. Gamble commanded the Sixth Cruiser Squadron from 26 September, 1910, until 3 June, 1912.[2] From 2 July to 27 July, 1912, Rear-Admiral David Beatty commmanded the squadron for the annual manœuvres, flying his flag in the Aboukir.[3][4] On 15 July, 1913 Rear-Admiral Dudley R. S. de Chair was given command of the squadron during the annual manœuvres of 1913.[5]
