The Naval Service is the umbrella title of the maritime forces of the United Kingdom. The principal component is the Royal Navy, and it also comprises the Royal Marines, Queen Alexandra's Royal Naval Nursing Service, the Maritime Reserves, and the Naval Career Service.[1] Until 1964 it was administered by the Board of Admiralty.
