H.M. T.B. 18 was one of 19 first-class torpedo boats of the T.B. 1 class.
Construction
T.B. 18 was one of two torpedo boats being built for Russia by Yarrow that were taken over by the Royal Navy after "very complicated negotiations" during the Russo-Turkish War.[6]
Service
In August 1880, shortly after her purchase, T.B. 18 was ordered to Portsmouth to take part in the naval review at Spithead along with her sister T.B. 17.[7]
In 1881, there were twenty first-class torpedo boats in all, and T.B. 18, and like most of her companions, she fitted for Whitehead. She was one of eleven boats serving out of Portsmouth.[8]
In 1895, she was one of eleven first-class T.B.s stationed in Gibraltar.[9]
