H.M.S. K 13 was one of 18 submarines of the "K" class.

Service

She sank on 29 January, 1917 while running trials with a contractor crew, killing Commander Francis Herbert Heaveningham Goodhart, who was loaned to the submarine to help with her working-up. Thirty-two men died in the accident and forty-eight were rescued. This ill omen prompted her to be redesignated as K 22 in March 1917, when she was raised; she entered service in May 1917.[6]

In 1925, she was part of the First Submarine Flotilla, operating with the Atlantic Fleet.[7] On 7 December, she paid off into Dockyard Control at Chatham.[8]
